Using VB.NET Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition compatible, develop a single user interface, code the following app.
The app I want coded is not like the extensive ones that are currently available on the web for sale that create large seating charts, like for teacher classrooms, weddings, large events.? This app will be much simpler and target only one type of user: Court reporters.
I want to have the user input the names in one field, title in another, and a corresponding "tag" in the field next to that name.? The "tag" is how we refer to that speaker when we indicate in the transcript that they are speaking.? For instance, the one for the plaintiff's attorney may be "play-mac."? We call those "tags" brief codes.?
After entering the names, they click a button to show the room, or everything could be in one window.? If everything is in one window, then I need the capability to "hide" the entry area so the window can be small and not take up a lot of screen real estate.? Most all of my users will be working on laptops and they'll have another software program dominating the screen.
Within the room space they would have icons (people or boxes or whatever you want to come up with that is simple to understand) and they can also add in a template for a table.? Then they drag the icon to a location within the window to create a seating chart for them? to reference during thier takedown.? There would be a standard icon for the court reporter too.
Right now there is no need to print the seating charts, so that's not a concern.? It would only be for onscreen viewing.? They should be able to save the list of speakers w/tags to pull up again.? Let's say they do depositions frequently for Jones and Smith law firm.?
The attorney and the room is always the same and so they may want to just save that seating chart to pull up next time they do a depo for Attorney Jones.? That way they only have to change a few things.? If it is easier to have just the name/tag fields saved and not the seating chart visual, that would be fine as well.
## Deliverables
I'd prefer to not give you a mock up because I want to see what ideas the programmer comes up with and not feel like they have to conform to my design.? I really have no pre-conceived notion of how it should actually look, I only know the functionality that it needs.? But feel free to recommend something if you want to.
For your bid to be considered, I need to have a description of your approach and if you have a basic screen mock-up to submit, even better.? This way I can be sure we are on the same thinking on this solution.? Thank you.
