The purpose of the small educational Android application is to allow children (age 2-6 years) to familiarize themselves with basic sounds of animals, musical instruments and the alphabet. The application shall run on the horizontal position of the mobile phone.
The whole application is based on the touch screen, all choices are made through the touch screen. First, the user can enter their name, which is shown in the up right corner of the screen throughout the entire game. When the game is shut down, the name is erased from the memory. After entering the name, a menu is shown with 3 options. The 3 options are displayed with 3 relevant pictures, an animal, an instrument/music notes and the letters ‘abc’ for the alphabet. Each picture has a caption: “Animals”, “Music” and “Alphabet”. The background of the menu will be an image of green grass. When the user selects one of the three options by touching it, the game starts.
If the user selects option, the first level will start immediately. Suppose the user selects the option “Animals”, four pictures of different animals are shown in the screen and a sound of one of these 4 animals is played clearly. The user has to decide which of the pictures corresponds with the sounds and selects one of the four animals. If the choice is right, a green tick will show up in the screen. The four pictures will still be visible on the background. Simultaneously with the green tick, an applause and cheering sound is played. Hereafter, one of the other three sounds will be played, until all four sounds corresponding with the pictures are played and answered correctly. If the user selects the wrong picture, a red X shows up and a sad doink sound is played. Hereafter, the same animal sound is played again, allowing the user to try again. This continues until the user selects the right option.
Throughout the entire game, it is possible to press the ‘back’ button (the android button) which gives 2 options: ‘return to menu’ or ‘exit the game’.
The previous description applies to all of the three games. However, in the game of instruments, pictures of instruments are shown with the corresponding sounds. In the case of the alphabet, pictures of letters and sounds of these letters being pronounced are played.
- The user shall enter his or her name.
- The user shall choose between three options of games: Animals, Music and Alphabet.
- In each game the user shall hear a sound and provided with four different pictures. In every level the sound corresponds with one of the pictures, which is then the right answer to the level.
- User shall be notified whether his choice was right or wrong.
- The ‘back’ button provides two options: ‘return to menu’ or ‘exit the game’.
- Application is user friendly for children.
- The application shall operate on Android 2.3 or newer.
The application has to be finished in approx. 1 week. The selected supplier will (if neccessary) receive twelve pictures and twelve sounds which have to be used for the games. Furthermore, four background pictures can be provided (one for the menu and three for the games).
