we have an email application (mySQL) that collects data when anyone fills in a form on our site, ex. the contact form, or to request more information.
The current email app we use is called Interspire, eMarketer, and it uses an mySQL database on the backend. ([url removed, login to view])
The basic idea is this, they receive email enquiries, and telephone enquiries daily, and we need to merge this info into a single app. This should then be able to show reports on number of enquiries, number of telephone enquiries, number of signups etc etc.
There will need to be a simple web form for the operators to enter telephone enquiries etc. Dates are very important for statistics, so when an entry is made in the form, the date should be recorded.
Now, if I explain what happens, and what they need to achieve, perhaps that will help.
When someone fills in the form on the site, they are added to this list above, and they then receive an auto responder reply with pricing and dates information. This is followed by a further 4 sales emails.
A copy of the enquiry email is sent to the sales team, and they then follow up this information with a phone call to the person enquiring. If they signup one of these enquiries to a course, then ideally they need to be moved from the enquiries list, to an "Enrolled Students" list so that they are no longer sent sales email. Currently this is not possible with the software, but maybe you have some ideas on this ?
The sales team also receive telephone enquiries where they get the name, email, and telephone number from the caller and currently just add them to an excel sheet. I am sent this sheet weekly, to add these enquiries manually to the list in the email software.
Like all good businesses, my client likes to be able to see such things as number of email enquiries this week, month etc, how many telephone enquiries weekly, monthly etc. He also needs to know how many enquiries there were this month, compared to last month, what percentage of enquiries result in a sale etc. I have pasted below his basic list of report requirements for you to look at. Please not that there needs to be a way of assigning enquiries to an advisor. I think one thing that's essential is listing this information in columns, that can be sorted.
Total number of unique enquiries
Number of enquiries with tel numbers
Number of enquiries with no working phone number
Total enquires going to each careers advisor
Quotes sources (magazines)
Quoted web sources (i.e. Google / other / link from another site)
Total number of enquiries contacted
Total enrolments per advisor
Number of enquiries ratio per advisor

You need create database and there tables, fields,...etc required things your self...

Select "Contact Lists" from the top menu, and "View Contact Lists" from the drop down.
The 6th item down the page is a list called "eBrochure Request" On the right hand side, you can click "View Contacts" You will then get a list of everyone on the contact list.
All the contacts on this list are added by filling in a form on the clients website.
