I have a Joomla website (domain and sub-domain) on a dedicated server (Linux - Plesk). Last week, the site became very slow and started giving 404 errors and the server became under very high load despite not many visitors on the site.
I called the server provider and was told:
" I booted the server into local but left the network disabled, it loaded without any problems and had about 700 MB of RAM free. As soon as I enabled the network apache hits jumped and within about 3 seconds the server dropped to 6 MB of RAM free. "
"What's killing your servers RAM is hits to the sites or PHP scripts causing the high load. I've turned off apache so the server is still up and running and can be accessed via Plesk, ssh, or serial console. Your domain XXXXX appears to be doing all of the traffic for this server. I would check it's logs to see if there are any IP addresses abusing the bandwidth or other reasons"
I need someone with full knowledge of Joomla and Linux server to fix the problem by accessing the server via Plesk, SSH, and serial console.
If you mange to fix it and make the site fast as it was, I am open to discuss a monthly maintenance service too.
