I have a PHP script that lists items from my database. Easy enough:
Item 1
Item 2
Item 3
Item 4
Item 5
I would like a way of re-ordering these items as needed e.g.
Item 3
Item 5
Item 2
Item 4
Item 1
The new order should be written to the database, obviously with all relevant database relationships between records preserved.
There is not always a distinct order to the items hence I haven't used SQL's ORDER BY statement.
I think the solution might involve adding a new field to the table e.g. "rankOrder". I'll let you decide.
Is there a simple way of doing this, preferably with PHP but will settle for Javascript as well.

## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
