SECONDARY SCHOOL AND MOBILE APP

Portal for virtual secondary school: 1) Student Portal- This is to contain menu that will allow students, after they have registered and log in to view and update their profiles,have their personal homepage,view results posted by teachers,see payment history,view courses offered and other basic things,view school calendar and time-table as the portal should be able to know the students current class. Also,we want as part of the menu, a menu called \'Best Practices\', which should allow students to share best practices with fellow students by posting and following discussion in a \'mini-twitter like\' fashion. Also,we like to allow students to join social groups approved by the school and discuss with colleagues in the group. 2) Teacher Portal- This is a little administrative-like which allow teachers after they have registered and log in to update some things on students page like time-table, prepare lesson notes post students result and promote or repeat students. Also,post practice questions to relevant students by selecting the class and subject,which the portal sends to only students concerned. Also,they should be able to do this and all main teachers functions using familiar microsoft office plugin. They should also view,update their profiles &have their personal homepage. Also, we want as part of the menu,a menu called \'Best Practices\',similar to student portal 3) Parent Portal 4)Administrative- This is the 'back end' made with an intuitive GUI that allow the administrator to do all things from limiting, approving &moving privileges of students,teachers,parents &approving social groups in the school to changing the logo,school name,calendar,monitor discussions &statistical information useful for school administrators The portal developer must be security conscious with necessary encryption &all features easily extensible through GUI. A very important aspect of this project is a mobile app,using Java,for common phones and smart phones and compilable to other phones to access the mobile version of the portal. We want all source codes &must include comments for easy understanding by our IT Professionals. ## Deliverables I need to develop a portal for a secondary school, the secondary school does not exist in reality yet but I need a good portal to market to clients what we do. Also, we want as part of the menu, a menu called \'Best Practices\', which should allow teachers to share best practices with colleagues by posting and following discussion in a \'mini-twitter like\' fashion. 3) Parent Portal - The parents, after being registered and approved by the administrators be able to follow up on their children progress and make suggestions to the school through an online \'Parent Teachers Association\'. 4)Administrative- This is the back end made with an intuitive GUI that allow the administrator to do all things from limiting, approving and removing privileges of students, teachers, parents and approving social groups in the school to changing the logo, school name, calendar, monitor discussions and statistical information useful for school administrators, e.t.c. The administrator will be just a person who can operate a computer, but not an I.T. Expert. Also, the register page (for all) should include activation link in their e-mail. The log in page should allow users to reset their password through their e-mails in case they forget. The portal developer must be security conscious with encryption where necessary, and also the portal must be easily extendable through GUI. A very important aspect of this project is a mobile app for common phones(simple nokia phones, samsung, LG, smart phones like blackberry, iPhone and other smart nokia phones). The mobile app should allow all users to log in and easily view important information on their page. We\'ll also like an app that we can easily compile the codes to include ore phone as the demand rises. Other context/requirements that providers will need to know: The website should also be made easily accessible through mobile phones as this is what most students use. Specific expertise/background that I am seeking: We need website developers who are professionals in Dynamic website development using open source tools like PHP, MySQL, Apache web server and Java(for mobile app) Timeframe for delivery: We have just 6 weeks for this project and even then we will be slightly behind time. Timeframe is one of the main reasons we outsourced this project, coupled with the professionalism we expect. We want all source codes and must include comments, for easy understanding by our IT Professionals. Cost- ICON-MEGA Systems is an IT Company at start up stage, hence cost is a matter of importance.
