We need a small web based interactive map built. The major problem that you will face is that there is no google map or yahoo map or other type of "map" for the area we need to work with. There are vector and raster based maps that we can provide and I assume these will be the basis for the graphics of the map. The final application shall interact with the user much like google maps does allowing panning in any direction. User will not be able to zoom in and out, but may click on particular defined areas for more detail. In both the general view and the detail views pre defined objects shall appear on the map. These objects shall be represented by icons. We will start with icons for banks, hotels, real estate, car rental, restaurants, and bars. Additional icons shall be easy to add. Each of these icons shall be displayed on the map at a specified location. The user shall be able to turn on or turn of the layers of each type of icon. I.e. they should be able to see only hotels... or only cars... or all or... only hotels and cars. Each icon when moused over shall pop up a window that shows basic information for the icon's entry in a business directory. The business directory is maintained in SQL and would be accessible to the developer. The business directory entries can be obtained by an "ID" number from the directory script. The pop up window should have basic information such as name, and a short description grabbed from the db. IF clicked the popup and icon shall link to the actual directory page for the icons entry. You will be interfacing with the SOBI2 business directory for Joomla. Your map component shall be able to be placed in a joomla based web site via some method, either a full integration with joomla or via an iframe, wrapper, or joomi. In your quote please explain the technology you plan to use in a bit of detail. Thank you.
