We would like to have a web application developed that provides for entry and tracking of tasks organized into projects and for timesheet entry tied in with tasks, so that the act of recording how you spend your time each day is combined with updating the status of the tasks the time was spent on.
We see the system as involving just a few screens, a somewhat flexible task list view that shows a list of tasks by project or by person assigned to them, a task entry view, an effort-entry view that records time spent on a task, and a day view that shows the day's effort for a person as a list of effort-entries for a day. There will also need to be some auxiliary screens, for adding projects and users, defining filters, and defining output formats (XSLT). Part of the job is to determine the full set of screens required for the system -- essentially to complete the design, from a UI perspective.
The purpose of this first engagement is to take our initial ideas, a writeup of which I have included, and and create a UI design prototype. This should consist of screens showing the the UI with example data.
We see this as a somewhat iterative process, where you will propose a set of screen designs, we will respond to it, and you will modify it in response.
After we have an acceptable design, we will want to contract for an implementation design and the development of the system.
This could be with the same person or firm that provided the UI design or with a different firm if the designer is not capable of implementing the full system.
As part of the bidding process, we will want to see other systems that you have designed and will want some discussion about how you would proceed.
We will also be attentive to your rating history on RAC.
## Deliverables
1) A demo website illustrating a complete UI design for our task tracking/timesheet system as described in the accompanying documentation.
2) Documentation describing the proposed action of the UI, to make the intent clear for a developer subsequently implementing the UI
3) After receiving our feedback, a subsequent iteration of the design that responds to our feedback.
4) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
