Would like to produce a site with a similar look and feel to [url removed, login to view], however I would like it ultimately do a lot more than be the ebay of Universities in the UK.
So to start a relationship with the right developer(s) I would like to spend the money to produce a clone of [url removed, login to view] with full functionality.
The right developer would need to give me a short document including a diagram of what the architecture of such a site would be. I am interested in using off the shelf, open source or similar software across the website, including the database, however needs to be architected so that it will scale easily.
I would prefer if the site was in JAVA, JSP etc. however I am open to other "open" languages / environments etc.
Similarly on the DB side, I am interested in open source implementations.
Responders should also give a sense of how long they think this will take to develop to a production ready system, and what they would need from me to develop it. e.g. online development environments etc. , although I would prefer if it can be done on the developers equipment and then given to me in the full.
