What I need is the NHL schedule converted into a format that I can input into a database. What this means is copying the data from the schedules section of the NHL website, and converting the date and time into unix time. This requires a little bit of work, in that most of the web based utc to unix time converters convert to GMT, but all of the times on the NHL schedule are in ET (Eastern Time - daylight or standard). Probably the best way to do this is to: * take all the information, dump it in a spreadsheet - keep an unedited copy before continuing * convert the dates into 3 columns and change the month to a number format * convert the time into 2 columns, hours and minutes * add 12 to the hours that had the PM notation ( I think that's all the times, but haven't checked the entire schedule) * add 4 to all hours (GMT Offset) * copy sheet into a datatable * write a php script that calls the datatable. Use the mktime() function to convert the minutes, hours, day, month and year to a unix time code. * on the screen, print a table like this: Visitor | Home | Time (in unix) * copy this back into an excel sheet. This should be fairly easy to do. The only trick is getting the data into the excel sheet in the first place. Deliverables are all the excel sheets. There will be one more job after this, if this one is done to satisfaction.
