I have a commercial website that uses Storefront5.0AE shopping cart system and SQL database (upsized from Access). There are 2 years worth of customer data and orders in the database (credit cards are deleted). Almost everything on the site is database driven, including the site design theme. Over time, the database has gotten slower and slower until a number of customers time out and abandon their orders. I am experienced in Access but not SQL. The Storefront tools do not have any maintenance options. I can only delete orders one at a time and I can't delete customers at all.
I am considering switching to a different, more robust ecommerce solution, but don't want to lose all this information.
I am thinking in the short term I can speed up the database by getting rid of a lot of old data. I need someone to quickly write me a little interface that will export a range of orders into some format I can read (like Excel or Access) and then delete them from the live database. And allow me to do the same with customers who haven't ordered in 1 year (if it can be done - I don't know why that functionality is missing).
Then one more batch of scripts to just export the whole thing if/when I'm ready to use a new system. One to export all product records (most important) one to export all customer records (next important) and one to export all old orders (least important). This should be in some really simple format that can be uploaded to a new shopping cart database. I'm currently looking at [login to view URL]
For someone who knows SQL, it shouldn't take long to eyeball the existing database and determine what is needed and write a simple web interface to do it. Nothing fancy required -its just for me.
