Description of system:
The system consists of a battery, load (LED strip), solar cells, light sensing device and motion sensing device. The Load, Solar cells and Battery are independent of the Printed Circuit Board.
The desired operation is described as:
When the product is in the dark, the product will be “armed” thus enabling the LED light strip to be turned on if motion is sensed by the onboard motion sensing device.
If motion is detected the LEDs are energized and remain energized for a length of time after this event. (I think the time interval will be required as the motion sense devices I have seen have a random signal or on off triggers).
When the product is in daylight, the PCB will then need to control the solar charging of the battery pack via the solar cells.
Ideally I would like the system to be able to illuminate the LEDs for a minimum of 4 hrs. per night. The product will be mounted with the face of the solar cells perpendicular to the ground and on the exterior of motor vehicles. It is assumed that for an optimum charge the vehicle will have been outdoors for the daylight hours.
Components: (The values I have are simply where I am at….. not sure how correct any or all of them are for a fully functioning system.
Solar cells: (2) 3Vdc cells producing 250mA (In series charging at 6vdc?)
LED light strip: (1) 3Vdc with approximately 120mA current draw
Battery Pack: (1) pack comprised of (3) 1.2 Vdc lithium ion cells operating at 3.6Vdc. (1200 mAh ????)
Vibration sensing device: (Signal Quest vibration motion sensing component (This was simply something I found that looks like it may be a cost effective solution????)
Light sensing device (photo cell????) not sure, but something inexpensive like on throw-away solar/LED yard lights. This may be mounted on the PCB in a way to have it in the front light exposed face of the product or mounted independently of the PCB.
