I’m building a shared Power Management Unit to run off a 12 S (≈ 48 V nominal) lithium-ion battery pack used across my autonomous UAVs and small UGVs. The board has to fit inside a 86 mm × 55 mm envelope, survive the vibration and temperature swings of flight, and be simple enough for repeat production through JLCPCB’s turnkey assembly service. Core functionality • High-voltage distribution with robust inrush-/over-current and reverse-polarity protection • Multiple, well-isolated regulated rails for avionics, companion computers, payloads and SAT-COM gear • Integrated buck/boost conversion and overall power-path management for maximum efficiency • On-board current, voltage and thermal sensing routed to a telemetry header/UART so the flight controller can log live power data • Individually switchable power domains that can be enabled or disabled remotely via a logic-level control line (GPIO, CAN, or similar) • Clearly reserved connector space and headers for future expansion, keeping the architecture clean and modular so new features won’t trigger a complete redo of the layout What I need from you – Full schematic capture and PCB layout ready for JLCPCB (Gerber + pick-and-place, stack-up notes, impedance requirements if any) – A concise, production-ready BOM that sticks to footprints and part numbers JLCPCB can source or alternates that are drop-in compatible – Thermal analysis / copper pour recommendations to ensure regulators and FETs stay within safe junction temperature under continuous 48 V input – Brief design documentation explaining how each rail is protected, where telemetry is tapped, and how additional daughter-cards could be added later I’m prioritising reliability, straightforward manufacturing and a layout that can be serviced in the field. If you’ve already created compact power boards for drones, EVs or robotics — especially anything running off 10–14 S packs — your experience will be a perfect fit. Let’s discuss component selection, connector style, and any test firmware you might need to validate the board once the first prototypes come back from the fab.

Hi, I have experience designing compact embedded power hardware with protected inputs, multi-rail DC/DC conversion, load switching, telemetry sensing, and production release for JLCPCB-class assembly. I have designed/reviewed systems with 10+ protected I/O channels, multiple regulated rails, battery-backed power paths, and board-level thermal/EMC constraints. Approach ✅ I will define the 12S input protection, inrush limiting, reverse-polarity stage, current sensing, buck/boost rails, and remotely switchable domains around your worst-case loads. ✅ I will design the 86 × 55 mm PCB with high-current copper, thermal vias, controlled return paths, vibration-aware connectors, telemetry routing, and reserved expansion interfaces. ✅ I will complete thermal/current-density checks, JLCPCB-sourceable BOM optimization, DRC/DFM, Gerbers, pick-and-place, stack-up notes, and rail-by-rail documentation. Questions ✅ What are the required output rails, continuous/peak currents, and maximum total power for avionics, companion computer, payload, and SAT-COM? ✅ What are the battery’s maximum charged voltage, expected surge/load-dump conditions, preferred connector family, and required control interface: GPIO, CAN, or both? Best, Yaroslav

I can take this from scope to a tested handoff without bloating the first milestone. For a Compact 48V UAV Power Management, the hard part is balancing sensor scanning accuracy, battery life, Bluetooth/SIM fallback, and OTA-ready embedded reliability. My approach would be to validate the sensor matrix and power budget first, then design the acquisition PCB, embedded firmware, connectivity fallback, and OTA/admin controls in staged prototypes. Quick question: What is already available for Compact 48V UAV Power Management: a working codebase, designs, data, or only the brief? Also, which one acceptance test would make you confident the first milestone is on the right track? Best, Dr. Syafiq

Hi, This is a strong fit — we build compact PCB power/control boards for robotics and UAV platforms, including turnkey-ready layouts for JLCPCB. Approach: Input protection: MOSFET-based reverse-polarity protection, inrush limiting, per-rail over-current protection so one payload fault doesn't take down the whole bus Isolated buck/boost rails sized per load (avionics, companion computer, payload, SAT-COM), with noise isolation between high-current and sensitive rails Telemetry: current/voltage/thermal sensing to a UART header; GPIO/CAN-controlled switchable power domains Layout built around your 86x55mm envelope with proper creepage/clearance for 48V, thermal vias under FETs/regulators, and headers reserved for future daughter-cards Deliverables: full schematic + PCB layout (Gerbers, pick-and-place, stack-up notes), JLCPCB-sourceable BOM with drop-in alternates, thermal/copper pour analysis at continuous 48V, design docs, and basic bring-up test firmware to validate rails/sensing/switching on first prototypes Realistic timeline for this complexity: roughly 3-4 weeks schematic through layout, tightened once rail count/current and connector specifics are confirmed. Happy to discuss connector style and rail budgets before finalizing scope. Thanks, Shadab TechTrue Solutions

✅✅✅✅✅ I can develop this PMU from power architecture through a JLCPCB-ready PCB, with the reliability and thermal constraints of a compact 12S platform in mind. I’d start by defining the 12S input range, continuous/peak current for each rail, transient/inrush requirements and which domains require true galvanic isolation. From there I’ll select appropriately derated FETs, protection devices and buck/boost stages, then design the sensing, remotely controlled power switches and telemetry interface. The 86 × 55 mm constraint will be handled at the architecture/placement stage, with high-current paths kept short, sensible copper/thermal spreading, separated noisy/sensitive domains and accessible field-service/test points. Milestones Power architecture + component selection Complete schematic + protection/telemetry design PCB placement/routing + thermal review ERC/DRC, BOM/JLCPCB sourcing and DFM review Gerbers, PnP, documentation + prototype validation plan I can also prepare simple test firmware/procedures for checking rails, current/voltage sensing and domain switching when the first prototypes arrive. The key inputs I’d need initially are the required output rails, continuous/peak current per rail, connector preferences and whether galvanic isolation is required between specific domains.

Okay, I got what you want exactly. I am a Full Stack Engineer PCB Designer with 10 years of experience, providing high-voltage power electronics, buck/boost converters, battery power-path management, protection circuits, telemetry, multilayer PCB design, and JLCPCB production files. In my opinion, the PMU should be designed around efficiency, protection, thermal margin, and serviceability from the start. I would partition each power domain with proper switching and sensing, optimize copper and thermal paths, and keep expansion areas modular without compromising the compact 86 × 55 mm envelope. This project is very similar to my previous works. I have designed compact power and control boards for robotics, UAV-style platforms, and battery-powered embedded systems. My experience includes high-current distribution, regulated rails, FET protection, current/voltage monitoring, and production-ready PCB layouts. So, I will divide your project into three major steps. 1️⃣ Design the complete power architecture, protection, sensing, switching, and BOM. 2️⃣ Create the compact multilayer PCB with thermal optimization and future expansion headers. 3️⃣ Validate the design and deliver JLCPCB-ready Gerbers, Pick-and-Place, BOM, and documentation. Via private chatting or meeting, I will provide the creative idea and good tech solution for your project. Best regards. Maksym

Hello, your compact 48V UAV power management goal is really about building a reliable power architecture that can survive vibration, heat, and repeated manufacturing. I work regularly with Circuit Design, Electrical Engineering, and PCB Design and Layout, which fits closely with what you’re trying to accomplish. I’d start by reviewing your existing mechanical envelope, connector plan, and rail requirements, then handle the high-voltage protection and regulated power-domain layout in a structured way, testing thermal behavior, current paths, and telemetry routing as I go rather than leaving validation until the end. The goal would be to deliver a production-ready board that is reliable and modular. I can begin immediately and should have this completed within 3 weeks. One thing I’d like to confirm before starting: do you want the switched domains controlled by GPIO, CAN, or a specific flight-controller interface? Best regards, Miguel

I don’t recommend bidding on this project unless you have strong experience designing compact 10–14S UAV/robotics power boards. This is a high-risk power electronics project, not just PCB layout. It involves: • 48 V lithium battery input • Inrush, over-current and reverse-polarity protection • Multiple isolated/regulatory power rails • Buck/boost conversion • High-current FET and copper sizing • Thermal analysis • Current/voltage/temperature telemetry • Remote-switchable power domains • JLCPCB-ready BOM, Gerbers and pick-and-place • Production reliability under vibration and temperature changes A mistake in component ratings, transient protection, thermal design, creepage, copper thickness or power-path control could damage expensive UAV electronics or batteries. Since your work is limited to software/remote design and you cannot perform real prototype testing, this is not an ideal project unless the client explicitly accepts simulation/EDA-only work and will handle all hardware bring-up and validation. Better to save the bid for embedded firmware, telemetry, protocol, or software-focused projects. Best regards Ankit

Hi, I've designed compact power boards for drones and UGVs running 10-14S packs—including a 12S PMU with isolated rails, remote domain switching, and INA226-based telemetry over UART. This is familiar ground. My approach: Schematic: reverse-polarity (P-FET or ideal diode), inrush limiting (NTC or active), eFuse or shunt + comparator for overcurrent, TVS for transients. Rails: synchronous buck for 12V/5V, LDO or buck for 3.3V avionics, boost for 24V payload if needed. Isolated domains via load switches or hot-swap controllers. Power path: ORing controller or priority mux for battery vs. backup. Sensing: INA226/INA3221 for bus voltage/current, NTC or digital temp sensor, all on I2C then UART bridge to FC. Domain control: GPIO-expander or CAN-controlled load switches, logic-level compatible. Layout: 4-layer, 2oz copper, thermal vias under FETs/regulators, keep power loop tight. 86×55mm is tight but doable with careful placement. Deliverables: schematic, PCB, Gerber + pick-and-place, JLCPCB BOM (basic parts preferred), stack-up notes, thermal analysis, design doc. Extras: test firmware for STM32 or ATtiny to validate rails and log telemetry before flight. Share your rail list, current per rail, and connector preference (XT30? Molex?). I'll give fixed quote + milestones. Regards, ShengLin Gu.

Hello, This is a strong fit for my power-electronics and UAV/robotics PCB experience. The main challenge is safely converting and distributing a 12S battery rail inside a compact 86 × 55 mm board while keeping efficiency, thermal margin, EMI, and serviceability under control. I can design the full schematic and PCB around proper 48 V input protection, inrush limiting, reverse-polarity protection, current/voltage/temperature sensing, switchable power domains, and efficient buck/buck-boost rails for avionics and payloads. I will also review MOSFET SOA, regulator losses, copper current density, thermal vias, connector ratings, creepage/clearance, and transient protection for UAV vibration and electrical noise. The BOM can be optimized for JLCPCB assembly with practical alternates. Deliverables can include source files, Gerbers, CPL/POS, BOM, stack-up notes, thermal/copper recommendations, and short documentation for each rail and telemetry point. Let's discuss. Best regards, Nichita

I've spent 20+ years in hardware and embedded design, much of it power-path, DC-DC and PCB layout for battery-fed boards. A 12S pack sits above 50 V fully charged, and the plug-in and load-dump spikes riding on top of that are what quietly take out parts sold as wide-input. You flagged the redo risk yourself, and that is where boards this size go wrong: the rail count, the isolation you want around SAT-COM and the heat all compete for the same 86 x 55 mm, so one late change moves everything. 1) I settle the front-end protection and the domain topology before any placement, so the connector space and headers you reserve stay usable later. 2) I drive rail architecture and part selection from what JLCPCB can actually stock and place, and I name drop-in alternates wherever a single-source part could stall a production run. 3) A per-part loss and junction-temperature budget sizes the copper, vias and placement, then the sensing and the switchable domains go in so a rebooting companion computer cannot pull avionics down with it. 4) You get schematic, Gerbers, pick-and-place, stack-up notes, a sourced BOM and a design doc covering protection, telemetry taps and daughter-card expansion. Please send the rail list with continuous and peak current for each, and confirm the temperature and vibration envelope you want the design derated to. Please contact me to discuss the details.
