NFC on Raspberry Pi

A Raspberry Pi Model B running on Raspbian is to read data from a NFC ACR122U reader/writer. Mifare 1K NFC tags have a 8-character UID. Upon reading the UID from a tag placed on the reader, the Pi is to display the image or video that corresponds to it. This correspondence has been previously recorded into a database stored locally on Pi.

Imaginably, this will be done using Python with the libnfc library. ACR has also released drivers and API for the reader, which I have uploaded; so there might be another way.


1) Python script to run on Pi that reads tag UID and takes action

2) A software with simple UI to create a database of UID-action

Future project(s) could involve the reverse: Pi writes data to tag depending on displayed item, or involve: Pi communicates in P2P mode with an Android phone, transferring data on-screen.
