I am an exclusive MS Acces and VBA developer - I do not work on any other platform. I think MS Access would suit your needs perfectly. In addition to importing data from excel, at the click of a button, we can also add the following features: 1 - Create a user login so that unauthorized access to the program is denied ( I assume that your data will be confidential). I can also create user based rights so that on administrators can edit data or export data. Others can only add new data or access the old data. The rights can be assigned the way you want. 2 - You will be able to send personal emails to selected contacts directly from the Access file without opening MS Outlook. 3 - You will be able to print mailing labels for selected contacts direclty from the program. 4 - You will be able to link documents/images (saved on your hard disk) to your contacts without embedding them in the db(which would bloat your db and make it slow to respond). Hi, My name is Nebojsa and i am experienced Ms Access application developer. I am interested in your project, and i would like to discuss with you about it. 1. I can create a normalized db 2. For this i usually create a form with datasheet, and each row (record) in the datasheet will have check box. Also, above datasheet will be checkbox to select all records in the datasheet. Selected records can then be exported to excel, or deleted if needed. If you need filters for datasheet, i can do that. 3. I need to see format of data in excel file before i can answer you about this. 4. Some of the fields in tables can have unique constraint, which will prevent entering duplicate values. I have created more than 25 different custom databases for clients in MS Access. I will be glad to provide you the requested functionality. It can be accomplished through MS Access. You would be able to create groups/interests and connect people with them (either during import or later through GUI). A flexible Search ability would provide you to select names (by any set of criteria) and export them to Excel or CSV. Import can be achieved through native MS Access functionality or a custom made form. Data would be imported in a temporary table first, checked for duplicates with existing data, and for those duplicates you would be prompted to choose overwrite / ignore / duplicate(not a good choice but...). Your project seems pretty straightforward, and I'd love to work on it with you. I have a good deal of experience with MS Access myself, having created an application to track inventory and payroll from scratch. That project used quite a bit of VisualBasic for the programming, and had a fair bit of SQL for database interactions as well. For your project I'd set up a simple table to hold the contacts with all relevant fields. I would set up a form to enter new entries with some validation added to prevent the duplicates. I would also give another form to find potential duplicates and a type of wizard to assist in de-duplicating (deciding which data is to be preserved and which is to be merged). I may have a another suggestion for you also which may be good for future use. It would be an application that exists already and has little to no cost to set up, an open source application. I would be happy to suggest it to you and assist you in setting it up and getting used to it. Either way I would be happy to work on this project for you. I will devote the time and attention necessary to accomplish what you need out of the project, all with straightforward coding and emphasis on clear coding so new modifications will be fairly easy to implement in the future.
