2D multiplayer mobile game prototype

TLDR: Looking for a 2D mobile game developer to develop a cross platform turn-like game in Cocos2d-x (C++). You will also develop the server side in Java or node.js.




1. User taps on play in the main menu and sees the 'matching...' text

2. The connection is established with the server while the match is found. For now, it can return the first two players in the queue. Logic for matching will be done later.

3. Then the game id and initial state are returned to both players and the game starts

Game logic:

1. The turn starts at the same time for both players and they have 10 seconds to play a move. They don't see what their opponent is playing until the turn ends.

2. They have 4 actions they can do (ATTACK, DEFEND, HEAL, MOVE). Some of these items have charges and will be returned as state on the server.

3. After selecting an action it's sent to the server via socket.

4. After both actions are received, the server returns the result to both players with the updated state.

5. After animations are finished on the client side, the new turn starts.

6. If the game is over the end game state is sent to both players, displaying 'You won/lost' and showing the score screen (how much points in rank did each player gain/lose).

7. After tapping on ok, player is returned to the main menu.

8. The data is saved to the database on the server side. Firstly let's just update the rank for both players. No need to keep the game history or anything.


- Main menu should show text with the player name and rank

- Each player will have a rank and a division. Rank is an integer. Division is simply a name for a rank range, for example:

- Rank 1 - 100 is Iron division

- Rank 101 - 500 is Gold division


I'm not sure whether we'll need to keep the player's division in the user's data in the database since it's basically determined based of the rank.

The game is a prototype, graphics and animations will be added later so you won't need to do any of those. We'll use mockup images just to create the prototype and implement the logic.

Also no need to do authentication, it'll be done later. On the first app launch, show the name textfield, persist it locally and send it to the server along with the randomly generated id.

3. Do you have experience with cocos2d-x? I'm also open for other free cross platform game engines but I prefer cocos2d-x(c++).
