Hi, I wanted to enquire about a potential project I have in mind and whether you think its acheivable. It's relatively simple compared to most apps (I think!??)
The overall idea of the app is to provide exam revision for a specific topic (secret for the time being! - all I can say is it's a British based professional exam which occures once per year).
There will be two main ways the user can revise for the exam.
A 'mock exam mode' which can either be a choice of either: 45 minutes (35 questions), 1.5 hours (75 questions) , 3 hours (150 questions) long. The questions are generated from the a pool of about 1000-2000 question from 20 different categories. Each question has a total of four (4) multiple choices and one (1) correct answer. There is a timer as indicated in the previous sentence, and at the end of the test you are given an overall percentage mark, as well as a breakdown of the answers for each questions. You select your answer and press 'next', and then move onto the next question. You can also press previous to go cycle backwards and forwards.
'Practice mode' - the user can select from a number of categories of questions (about 20). They are then asked how many questions they wish to practice with (15/50/100/500/1000 etc.). In this mode when they select one of the multiple choices, and select 'next' instead of immediately moving onto the next question, the screen expands and there is an 'explanation' of what the correct answer is - this is almost like a 'working out' of how you arrive at the specific answer. This will be about 200-300 words. At the end they are are also told what percentage of answer they got correct, but they can go back and review all the correct or incorrect answers with the explanation showing.
The user will have the option to see their revision progress. A log of all the mock exams and practice questions will provide percentage score marks. Breakdown of the categories of questions. i.e. you scored 20% in category A, 76% in category B (therefore you must work harder on category A questions etc.
The data for the questions will be stored locally so it can be accessed offline. It would compose of columns for 'questions' - 'four multiple choice answers' - 'one correct answer' - 'answer explanation'. Depending on the mode selected, it will draw data from all or some of the columns. (Doesn't have to be columns this is just used to attempt to explain this easier).
I am not 100% certain on the monetisation system, however I think it will initially be a trial model where they download the app, create a user (google account or personal email) and get 5 days trial of limited fetures. After 5 days they are locked out and have the option of unlocking the full app by subscribing either via google playstore or they can have their own payment system.
I would like the option to release a new app version each year where I can update the exam questions.
It should be user friendly, simple and quick. I don't need any images/media or anything glamour. Clear intuitive buttons to navigate. I would probably regard this is a very simple project.
I hope this is clear, but I am interested to know if you think this is acheivable and a quote for this? Initially i'm interested in a one-off quote.
