Prospective freelance candidate,
I'm a property manager of a large condo building with 420 units, 600 residents, that has 7 commercial spaces attached to the building. Though the building is a condo building, approximately 50% of the units are rented by the owners, which mean there's a lot of rotation/turnover with lots of in-processing and out-processing of tenants each month.
I'm currently managing the various "objects" or bits of information to include units (apartments), it's occupants (owner and renters), and the amenities associated with the occupants (parking, storage, work orders, etc...) on a static excel sheet (calling it a table would be a stretch). Recording all the above data and more onto a single excel table (or even multiple tables) is simply an out of date method that needs to brought into the 21st century.
Managing, tracking, and otherwise maintaining a reliable database with data validation and integrity, along with the ability to build queries and reports is a start.
The ability to Move in and move out a resident and store their leases, applications, and amenity uses (parking, storage, etc..) will be the primary goal of the migration from excel to access.
Using separate access tables for information like resident bio, parking, storage, bikes, work orders, contact info, etc.. and to then establish the appropriate relationships between tables to deliver a "occupant dashboard" of sorts where I can glean at a form/page to see that for example: "Joe and Jane smith" live in Unit 403, which is displayed as a 2-bed room, 1500sqf unit, Joe parks in spot 95 and Jane parks in spot 99, they have 2 storage units #19 and #232, has a dog, and two kids.
Having reports that show current parking, storage, work orders, etc... will also be an important element to the project.
My background in Access:
- understand tables, forms, reports, relationships
- limited VB.
Time frame of project:
Begin in the next 2 weeks (no later then March 1).
Completed by March 20th.
Testing in March 20-April 1.
