We've developed a feature comparison showing collections of features and how our product compares to other products. (The product is an online software service, providing emergency notification for public safety agencies such as police, fire departments and emergency management.
The comparison is several years old and needs to be updated. In addition, we want to add some additional vendors to the comparison.
To do this, you will need to review the websites of the various companies and it will be helpful if you can find other sources of data. For example, most of the companies in our industry participate in Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and answer the RFPs with detailed descriptions of their products. These RFP responses often have more detailed data than the company's sales literature will have.
It is also useful if you are able to make telephone calls to the competitors and get details about their products from them directly. Strong communication skills and the ability to talk to US english speakers is very helpful.
If you complete this job successfully, we have other projects using similar skills and some of the learning you will get from doing this project. So we may have some long-term assignments that come out of this project.
This is to clarify the project a bit. Expectations for this project:
1) You will need to learn some basics about the features. Our competitors may not name everything using the same words, so will require some understand of what the different features are and how they are referred to by each company.
2) We will supply some features we think need to be added. In addition, you are expected to identify features the competitors list that we may have missed. Your source materials should be the web pages of the competitors, sales literature you can get from them, and RFP responses within the last 12 months.
