Our customers buy sheets of plain labels in A5, A4, A3 & SRA3 formats for printing their labels. They download templates from our website for this purpose in MS Word, PDF and our own online label design software.
We want to create and introduce new functionality into the templates, as follows:
(1) Create an "Alignment Tool" for printing.
Sometimes with smaller sizes of labels on sheets, the mechanisms on desktop printers, can cause misalignments, requiring correction. To compensate a manual adjustment of margins is required using a "toggle, or shift" tool, allowing the user to adjust the template position for printing to correct alignment.

(2) Removal of Label Line
The label outline, or cutter line required on-screen for placing and centering designs, should automatically not print and not require removal by the user prior to printing.
(3) Bleed & Safety Lines
In addtion to the above there should be two additional dotted lines with on-screen mouse-overs/tool-tips.
If not background is being used in the label design and/or if there is text, we want to indicate a "Safety Line" 2mm in from the cutter or label outline and suggest that for the best results the design stays within this designated area, but it is only advisory.
When backgrounds are being used they should be automatically i.e. "Set As Background" extend to the "Bleed Line" 2mm outside of the label cutter line/outline, to ensure the best results and no labels with white edges.
(4) Design Replication & Position
Create a tool to allow the design used to be replicated to all label positions on the sheet, or selected label positions in the layout only.
(5) Unprintable Area
The majority of printers are still not able to provide edge-to-edge print coverage and our templates need to show a 4-5mm border around all four edges, so that a user can easily understand that when a label edge is inside of this shaded area, this part of the label will not print. Ref. accompanying screen-clip from Brother.
This is an example of what could work for us, obviously, we dont want to copy, but we need a template:
1 customers can download and print without the label outline being printed
2. the templates must be available in- Browser - Word - PDF
3. customers must be able to share the templates online
4. all 3 versions must be accurate in terms of label gaps, size and corner radius
5. All templates must be usable in our label design tool

Also, we are not necessarily looking for someone to produce all of the templates, because we have designers and developers that can do that. Rather what we require is the initial concept work completed so that we have a model to follow and apply.
