I have a small collection of historical documents written in old Persian-Urdu—no more than one page in total—that I must present for legal use. Because the material may be cited in court filings, every nuance, date, name, seal, and marginal note has to be captured precisely in modern, idiomatic English without losing the original tone. The texts are in the Nastaliq script and contain a mix of Persian vocabulary and classical Urdu syntax. Some archaic legal terminology appears throughout, so familiarity with Mughal-era administrative language is essential. I will supply high-resolution scans; if any sections are faint or damaged, please note them and suggest a best-effort reading. Deliverables • A clean, line-by-line English translation in MS Word (or compatible) • A parallel file or column that shows the original phrase opposite its English rendering for easy cross-reference • Footnotes explaining ambiguous terms, obsolete titles, or cultural references that could affect legal interpretation • A short summary (max one page) highlighting key dates, parties, and clauses that may be relevant to counsel Acceptance Criteria • Complete coverage of all visible text, with no omissions • Consistent transliteration of names and places • Translation accuracy sufficient for submission in a legal proceeding, verified through a brief spot check we will conduct on receipt • Delivery within the agreed timeframe in editable format If you routinely work with Persian-Urdu manuscripts, understand historical legal jargon, and can turn around a meticulous, court-ready translation, this project should fit comfortably within your wheelhouse.
