I am looking for a virtual legal research assistant to conduct a variety of research for the next 2 to 3 months (approximately 5 to 10 hours per week). You should have excellent search and writing skills, be familiar with and have used online tools such as Evernote and Dropbox as well as Microsoft word, and Excel. I also have access to a number of online legal databases that the researcher will have access too.
Below, I have compiled a list of “examples” of the “type” of research I would like conducted (based on past research) and the deliverable. I would be happy to answer any questions related to these examples or other types of examples in an effort to further clarify this project.
I. Look for articles, including law review articles addressing: 1) IP issues related to start up technology firms, including 2) When should a startup invest in copyright and patent protection?
Please search the following sources; general web search, HeinOnline, google scholar, and other as applicable; review and highlight the relevant portion of any results or articles, and attempt to draft a response to the question.
II. Search [url removed, login to view] for companies that have the word “Social Networking” in their filings; read through the results from the search, identify the companies whose primary business is Social Networking, and then compile a list of those companies and a summary of their business.
III. Look for articles, including law review articles that 1) discuss the obligations of an "Exchange Act" reporting company under the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); 2) discuss Under what circumstances would a “publicly reporting” company not be considered an "Exchange Act" company.
IV. Look for articles written in the last six months discussing the status of Crowdfunding and the SEC.
V. Please compile a list of existing Crowdfunding websites in Excel and provide a short summary of the sites main business purpose, and country of origin.
