Following one collection from the runway to a storage unit says more about the industry's entry barrier than any trend piece. 2. Deadstock as a constraint, not a virtue. Young designers increasingly work from what already exists because it is what they can afford; the sustainability framing arrives afterwards. What does it actually do to a silhouette when you cannot reorder the fabric? 3. The first-job gap. Between a degree and a design job sits an unpaid internship most graduates cannot afford to take. Who ends up in this industry is largely decided there, not on a runway. On research method: I work from primary sources — show listings, lookbooks, company filings, interviews already on record — and I mark what is verified separately from what is claimed. If a fact cannot be confirmed twice, it goes into the draft flagged rather than quietly stated. One question: is the interviewing you mention occasional, or expected on most pieces?
