Add JS widget to hide/show coupon code field on cart checkout screen

We have a Joomal website at [login to view URL] site. We are using a Joomla component called "Payplans" to handle paid subscriptions/memberships on the site.

There are multiple subscriptions available on the site, but the checkout page for all of them is coded by one template PHP file. If you'll notice, we have a "Discount Code" field that can be used for coupon codes.
We want to have that discount code field area hidden by default. We want a little image button placed on the page. When clicked, the field area is shown.
Attached is a screenshot showing what needs to be done.
