We are a very early stage startup and very small team. It is currently just myself, my co-founder, and one developer who has helped us get to Stage 1 of our project. As mentioned, we are looking for a React SPA developer to lead development of our front-end, with another developer working on the Scala/CQRS backend.
This is not a typical consulting project with a team building a product or service. We are doing Lean Startup and will be running rapid experiments. The developers role will be to help us build as quickly and simply as possible something to test a hypothesis about our business, and to repeat this every fortnight.
Our goal is to use the collected data to get venture funding in the first half of next year. That round of funding would be to develop further functionality, further test the business model, and then get more significant amount of funding to scale the business. Right now we have some core functionality and a platform for running the experiments.
We are looking for someone with excellent Javascript/Web/CSS development skills who is learning or keen to learn and rapidly build with React/Flux/Relay. This is a chance to really get into some great new technology and build valuable skills. We have grant from Google for use of Google Cloud and are employing continuous integration and deployment.
The developer would lead front-end development and I would work with them as much as I can - mostly as Product Owner (with technical expertise), as I am too busy to do major dev. Again, the goal of each iteration is just to implement smallest thing on front-end, and then to collect data to validate (or not) a business hypothesis.
As we are not yet funded, we can’t pay top rates but we can give you an opportunity to learn and get some experience with distributed systems architecture, DDD, CQRS, Google Cloud, and of course Scala and functional programming. We will also be “junior developer”, to do any simple and repetitive tasks for you.
The work is for Acavista, which is a startup is in the higher education space, i.e. we aiming to reinvent higher education. The Web site gives an explanation but I can explain more if you are interested during a Skype chat. You may also like to check out our “corporate” site: [login to view URL] that has a jobs page.
We think this startup has huge global potential and, for the right person, it’s a chance to be involved from the start. We do have some other developers who may be interested so I can’t guarantee anything but it would be great to chat with you if you are interested. I would also like to connect on LinkedIn if that’s ok?
I have loads of React experience, open source contributions, and am a big fan of the library. It plays really well with my other strength in animating, as there are now really intuitive ways to handle state and transitions with elegant UI touches.
I'm a good communicator and I enjoy an experimental attitude.
Please get in touch with me via email and we can set up a skype chat or whatever.
