I need a demo of a system I intend to show to some clients involving basic gesture (or shape) recognition.
I'd like a simple demo to basically display a computer webcam stream through a java app window, make a red coloured box over the video stream to "guide" the user's position. When a button is pressed, save it an image.
I want to then access the image pixels, convert them from RGB values to HSI (HSV) values , replace values between a certain range (which roughly corresponds to the pixel colour value of caucasian skin colour) and replace all pixel values either 0 or 1 depending on the value. I then want the new changed image displayed, saved as a new image and the pixel output printed to a txt file in a certain format ready for input into a neural network (neural network stuff to be done separately and beyond the scope of this project).
Can this be done, how long would it take/cost etc? I have technical knowledge, and basic Java programming knowledge, but this is beyond me. Can you help?
