My online ad in the yellow pages has a "Call" link that opens up another window. The prospective customer is instructed to enter in his or her phone number and click on "Call now for FREE." Yellow pages then calls the prospect with the number entered. When the customer answers his or her phone, then Yellow Pages call my number listed in the ad and thus we are connected.
The problem is that the data on the "Call" link doesn't work when I try to use it as a link on my own website. There must be some unique identifier for the "Call now for FREE" link to know the number to connect to (mine.) However, this code only produces the desired result in the window, when clicked from the yellow pages website. I was told this link looks like Java Script code. When I click on the link from my own website, I get the result: "Sorry, the link you followed failed validation. Please try again."
To help reduce the costs, here are my detailed observations thus far:
The solution might be to find out what that unique identifier is and have it faithfully reproduced each time a prospect clicks on my link. If this unique code is the same each time, that would be a great: a "static" identifier.
However, there might also be another quirk: It may be possible that Yellow Pages produces a different code each time the user clicks on that link - a "dynamic" identifier. If this is the case, then the code for my own link would need to induce the Yellow Pages website to produce it (in the back ground of course) and imbed it into the code that will open up that new window.
Note that when I repeat the same operation in another browser, it produces the same code, so I don't think it's a dynamic identifier.

Here is the link that is supposed to open up a new window by clicking on "Call"
The strange thing is that when I paste the link in FireFox (for Mac) it works (if I have Pop-Ups allowed). But it doesn't work in Safari (Mac)
I don't know about browsers for Window, Linux, iPhone, Palm Pre, BlackBerry so it would be helpful to test out the solution on these, as well.

Hi, The site uses a session based token which expires after a period of time. That's why you're seeing the it's not random across browsers. If you want a solution in java for your problem i have it already.
