Our adult son has been admitted to a hospital in Tokyo and, from the UK, we are struggling to receive any clear information about his condition. The hospital staff speak limited English, so I need a fluent Japanese-English speaker who can act as our voice on the ground—calling the ward, speaking directly with doctors or nurses, and relaying accurate medical-condition updates to us in plain English. What I need you to do • Place telephone calls to the hospital during their visiting or information hours. • Secure concise updates on my son’s current medical status, any recent test results, and the care plan moving forward. • Summarise each conversation for us by email or WhatsApp as soon as practical, noting the name and role of the staff member you spoke with. • If a situation is urgent or unclear, follow up with the relevant department until a satisfactory answer is obtained and notify us immediately. Key details • Time-zone coordination is essential; I can supply the patient ID, ward, and direct line numbers. • Sensitivity and discretion are critical—this involves personal medical information and you may be asked to sign a simple confidentiality statement. • While the core task is phone liaison, the ability to translate any short documents the hospital might fax or email would be a bonus, but not mandatory.
