I have a raspberry pi 4 that needs to connect to my amazon account. I need to create a “thing” on AWS. I’m having trouble getting the two connected. Ideally, I’d like it to post all the serial inputs the raspberry pi is receiving to AWS and be able to control it through my web application (PHP). Maybe we need to integrate a lambda function here? Not entirely sure. This raspberry pi is communicating with the Arduino. The Arduino is not relevant to the project except for one component. The solenoid lock. I would like to lock and unlock this solenoid lock from my web application ideally. To do that, I need to connect my raspberry pi to AWS IoT. I’m having trouble getting the IoT part functional. I have the communication from the raspberry pi and Arduino. I just need the other half that will connect to my web application via IoT.

Upload certificates to Raspberry Pi
Create a policy
Attach the policy
Create python script to encode environment variables in a secure fashion (no hardcoding certificate information)
Establish and test connection from Raspberry Pi to AWS IoT. I should see information being populated to and from Raspberry Pi and AWS under

Create script to read lock state open/close from Arduino on Raspberry PI via serial
Create a function to execute in PHP to communicate with IoT to send a signal to Raspberry Pi to lock and unlock the solenoid lock.
IoT should pass that information to Raspberry Pi and the lock should remain open until the PHP function triggers it to be closed.
Testing each part as a whole
