THE KNUCKLEHEAD SPY OF SILICON VALLEY is a humorous novel that looks at the opportunities and dangers of Silicon Valley’s constant innovation through the eyes of an insider—who may just be a spy.
Ralph Gibsen isn’t a spy, but he’s attracting a significant amount of attention from the intelligence community. After all, he can phish your passwords, bust firewalls, and has developed privacy software used by hundreds of millions of people across the world to circumvent government censorship. Ralph spends more than 50% of his life in a business-class airline seat, hacking and fostering his large imagination. And now, he thinks he has stumbled upon a cabal who desires to misuse this technology for their own world domination.
Among his many portfolio companies and committees, Ralph is asked to be part of the Z-Prize team to create a disruptive educational Tool that maps a learner’s neurological process, so that it pinpoints the exact moment a student learns something. The Tool can also be used to manipulate people’s truths—or at least that’s what the international spy community seems to think. As Ralph is one of the public faces of the Tool, he is suddenly the target of increasingly complex cyber attacks on his businesses, reputation, travel and life. Any number of organizations are clearly trying to stop him.
Can Ralph thwart this nefarious plot? Perhaps only with his eclectic group of ‘frenemies’ does he have a chance. His old college buddy McKenna may or may not still work for the CIA, and may or may not be on Ralph’s side. Seductive Eva works for Huawei ,the most-powerful Chinese company, that often doubles for the Chinese government, who wants the Tool for themselves.
THE KNUCKLEHEAD SPY OF SILICON VALLEY is a debut novel that will make readers anxious, laugh, and genuinely curious to explore the many possibilities of the rapidly evolving technological world we live in. Silicon Valley, hacking, privacy, the misuse of technology, international travel, and cultural nuances are all topics of great interest to the book buying public today. This novel intertwines the lot, while making the audience laugh—sometimes at itself.
As a lucky entrepreneur, Silicon Valley insider, and privacy expert, as well as spy-novel aficionado, Craig is an ideal person to write such a book. He has built companies in many countries, and has greater than seven million airline miles, so much of Ralph’s story is written from this experience. He is a strong advocate for the responsible and thoughtful use of technology in our society, as you can see from his popular TEDx Talk. He has tens of thousands of followers on Twitter, and a wide following on social media in general. This is his first novel, but envisions further adventures for Ralph.
Your goals for this book
To entertain. I am already working on a sequel. I'd like to find a way to bring this 1st novel to the mass-market. I'd like to be quantitatively and ROI-driven in my marketing approach focusing on Amazon ads/SEO and FB discovery methods/tools. Budget TBD
The novel should appeal to book buyers who like Carl Hiaasen, Harlen Coben, Lisa Lutz, Neal Stephenson, Christopher Moore, Matt Haig, Charles Stross, Jasper Fforde, Paolo Bacigalupi, and, of course, John le Carré.
