Southern Cottage Facade Design Guidance

I’m finalising plans for a new-build that should embody a relaxed, welcoming Southern cottage feel, yet the current elevations still look a bit generic. The goal is to refine both curb appeal and a few key interior accents so everything reads as one cohesive story. Exterior focus • Possible Roof design changes: suggest subtle changes to pitch, dormers, and overhangs that reinforce the cottage character while keeping construction practical. • Possible Windows & doors: adjust proportions, and placements for a inviting façade. • Exterior materials & colours: propose a palette (siding, brick, trim, roofing) that suits my climate and budget while staying true to the Southern cottage vibe. The wife likes the Southern Cottage Vibe, the husband would appreciate some Coastal touches (palm trees, etc) if they can be incorporated as well. The lot is waterfront property in Yulee Florida, with a boat dock. Interior tie-ins Ceiling beams, fireplaces, we currently have timber beam on brick wall dividing the kitchen from living space. Interior should echo the exterior language. I’d like concept sketches or visual boards that show how those elements flow from outside to inside. Deliverables 1. Annotated elevation mark-ups or quick 3-D massing views highlighting proposed façade tweaks. 2. Material and color schedule with manufacturer references where possible. 3. Mood board or interior vignette showing beams, brick fireplace treatments, and paint selections. 4. Short written rationale for each recommendation. Concept stage only—no full construction drawings required. First pass visuals within one week; final refinements after feedback a few days later. I currently have a front elevation 3D rendering, a floor plan, and a rudimentary site plan. I can get a cad file from the architect if needed.
