Design a custom-made cabinet for the living room of your residential project home. The cabinet will be fixed and will occupy the entire length of the east wall. Your design will include various types of storage and display sections with the aim of optimizing access and visual impact of items such as artwork and/or collected crafts, awards, books, TV, sound system, DVDs, albums, hidden work surfaces, etc. The more creative (integrated lighting, glass doors, details, etc.), ergonomic and innovative (use of special hardware, ways of storing, etc.) it is, the better the score will be. Finally, the cabinet will be constructed using appropriate materials, assembly methods and hardware to ensure functionality and structural integrity. Deliverables: Produce a complete set of manufacturing drawings at a scale of 1/2” = 1’-0” (or 3/8” if too large) for plan(s) and elevation(s), 3/4” or 1 1/2” for sections and 1 1/2” or 3” for details. The set must be completed using any software (AutoCAD, Chief Architect, or hand-drawn), to scale and on 11 x 17 inch sheets, following industry standards, including title block and information, and drawing titles. The drawings will include a plan view, elevations as needed, at least two sections and three or four details of special features and seam/joint connections where necessary. Orthographic projections must be drawn with appropriate line thicknesses, line types, hatching, appropriate notes and correct dimensions. The project will be installed on a 9' - 10 1/2" wall.
