i’ve done very similar recently, automating bulk image compositing with Python (Pillow + OpenCV) for thousands of variants. Do you already have a mask/PSD that defines the exact fabric area? Are all fabric images uniform in resolution or should the script auto-scale/crop? I suggest using a mask-based overlay because it guarantees clean edges and no bleed artifacts. I also suggest parallel processing because 1000+ combinations will run much faster and stay stable on macOS. I will first map overlay coordinates or extract mask from PSD.
