We have a built in system for which needs to be made.
Primary focus is to develop an an LMS for corporate customers dealing with multiple trainees. These trainees may have low IT skills.
There is a secondary requirement for it to work for direct customers / clients.
Outline Features and Functionality
Below are the details on what technical architecture and technologies would Am Web see fit for the development of the WD Training website.
Admin / Wd Training
Invited Student (invited by company to sign up, company pays)
Direct Student (student going direct to site)
users to be assigned their roles - company or student during the registration process
Companies may be set up by WD training directly
Signed Confirmation letters [functionality to be confirmed with client]
Direct students require signed confirmation letters returned before they can take course
Invited students should not [please confirm]
Batch purchase of courses or credits for companies
Individual / batch student invitations
Student usernames and passwords to be designated automatically via email after the company purchases the course
Company dashboard should contain information on student progress haven’t started the course, in progress, successfully completed, failed
Manager dashboard should have invoices / statements
The student should be able to retake a quiz twice
If the student fails the quiz twice they should be removed from the course and asked to purchase the course again
What happens in the instance where the company has paid for the course? [Client to confirm]
Once they repurchase the course the letter reupload isn’t necessary
Certain courses will be created for specific corporate customers. These courses should then obviously only be accessible for certain managers and students invited by that company as assigned by WD Training.
Once the student successfully finished the course, badge and certificate should be available within managers dashboard
Badge and certificate should be downloadable and printable
What is the process for direct students? [Client to confirm]
Reminder / Retraining
Send reminders to managers when trainees are due for training renewal.
The reminder should be sent 2 and 1 month before the training is due to expire. [this may be managed in a different way as its effectively a CRM - managing your clients, rather than and LMS features. We will investigate]
Possibility to download all trainee information by the admin for reporting purposes. Courses finished, letter submitted, course progress, certificate etc.
Final Survey / Evaluation page for students
To gather their feedback on course structure etc. This should be accessible by the manager and admin on their dashboard.
This is a nice to have feature and would normally be managed outside the manager / company and direct to ‘owner’ i.e. WD training, who would then provide the feedback.
The functionality for this needs to be discussed. There is no technical issue providing live chat but it would use a separate (live chat) system. The problem is when available? It may make more sense that its set times where you do Q and As or similar with students.
Managers and admins you may treat differently as these are effectively your clients. You may decided on how you deal with these, but if there is a live chat that is rarely available it may not add that much value.
