I’m putting together a monthly printed A5 puzzle-competition booklet aimed primarily at readers aged 60 and over. For launch, the booklet will be approximately 16 pages. The aim is to create something clear, enjoyable and good value, with a mix of prize-entry puzzles and lighter “just for fun” filler content so the booklet feels full without becoming cluttered or difficult to read. Each issue will include easy-to-follow word, number and light logic puzzles. The prize-entry puzzles should each produce one clear final answer, ideally a single word or short phrase, which readers can submit online or by phone. Some puzzles will be linked to smaller monthly prizes, such as a £50 cash voucher, gift card or gadget prize. These prize labels need to be displayed clearly and consistently. Alongside the smaller prizes, every issue must clearly promote the main headline prize of £50,000. This should appear throughout the booklet, ideally on each prize puzzle page, without making the design feel too sales-heavy. I would also like filler content included throughout the booklet. This should be clearly separate from the prize-entry puzzles and labelled as “just for fun” or similar. Suitable filler content could include fun facts, light trivia, simple riddles, mini quizzes, word facts, “did you know?” boxes, memory prompts, short feel-good editorial snippets, quote boxes, spot-the-difference style content, simple brain teasers and light humour. The booklet also needs space allocated for: - Terms & Conditions - Ways to enter - Customer support/contact information - Website entry details - Phone entry details - Company details and disclaimers The publication should clearly state that Fortune Puzzle Club is operated by Wolter Group Ltd. There should also be a dedicated section explaining how readers can enter answers online via our website or by phone using the provided entry number. What I need: A complete A5 booklet design of around 16 pages, supplied as a print-ready PDF and editable source files. A clean, mature and engaging visual style that feels fun and prize-led without looking childish or gimmicky. Large, easy-to-read layouts suitable for older readers, with generous font sizes, strong contrast and plenty of white space. Puzzle page templates for crosswords, word searches, missing-word puzzles, anagrams, codewords, odd-one-out puzzles, riddles, dingbats, sudokus and other simple logic puzzles. A consistent way of showing which prize is attached to each prize puzzle. Clear separation between prize-entry puzzles and non-prize filler content. A front cover that clearly markets the booklet as a monthly puzzle competition product and strongly highlights the £50,000 main prize. Clear answer-entry instructions, showing readers how to submit answers online or by phone. Simple section styling or iconography so readers can quickly identify word puzzles, number puzzles, logic puzzles and “just for fun” sections. Acceptance criteria: All body text should be highly legible for older readers, with a minimum of 12 pt text and larger headings where appropriate. The colour palette should use strong contrast and remain easy to read in print. The layout should avoid clutter and keep the prize messaging clear but professional. The “just for fun” filler content must be visually distinct from the prize-entry puzzles. The booklet should feel full and worthwhile, but not cramped. Master pages, paragraph styles and reusable templates should be set up so future issues can be updated easily. Each prize puzzle must have one clear final answer and the answer-entry process must be obvious to the reader. Space must be included for Terms & Conditions, company information and entry instructions. The final files should be suitable for commercial print and future editing. If you have experience designing puzzle booklets, senior-focused publications, competition materials or accessible print layouts, relevant samples would be useful.

Hi, I really like the direction of this project because you’re not simply creating a puzzle booklet — you’re building a product that needs to balance entertainment, clarity, accessibility, and prize-led marketing without overwhelming the reader. A few quick questions before discussing timeline and structure: Will you provide the puzzle content already created, or should puzzle generation/layout both be included? Do you already have branding/logo assets for Fortune Puzzle Club? Will the booklet always remain around 16 pages, or should the system scale easily to larger editions later? Do you already have print specifications from your printer (bleed, margins, CMYK profile), or should I prepare standard commercial print settings? If you have any reference puzzle magazines or publications you like stylistically, I’d also be happy to review them before starting. This sounds like a genuinely enjoyable project, and I’d love to help create a puzzle booklet that feels polished, accessible, trustworthy, and genuinely enjoyable for your audience month after month.

Hi, I have read your brief in full and this is a well-thought-out project. A clean, senior-friendly puzzle competition booklet with clear prize messaging and reusable templates is exactly the kind of print design work I enjoy. Three quick questions before I finalise my approach: 1. Do you have existing brand assets - logo, colours or fonts - for Fortune Puzzle Club? 2. Will you be supplying the puzzle content or should I create it as well? 3. Do you have a print supplier in mind, or do you need the files set up to a general commercial print spec? I have experience designing accessible print layouts for older audiences and understand the balance between clear, legible design and content that still feels engaging and prize-led. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Hafiz Anas

Hi there, I carefully reviewed your booklet concept and understand the balance you’re aiming for: a prize-led monthly puzzle publication that feels engaging, premium, and easy to navigate for readers aged 60+, without becoming visually cluttered or overly sales-focused. The combination of accessible layouts, consistent prize presentation, and clearly separated “just for fun” filler content is especially important for this audience and publication type. I would approach this as a professionally structured editorial product using Adobe InDesign with properly built master pages, paragraph styles, reusable puzzle templates, and print-ready typography systems to ensure future monthly updates remain efficient and consistent. The layout will prioritize large readable text, strong print contrast, generous spacing, and intuitive visual hierarchy throughout the 16-page A5 format. Do you already have branding elements for Fortune Puzzle Club, such as logos or preferred colours, or would you like the visual identity developed as part of the project as well? PORTFOLIO: https://www.freelancer.com/u/AneesaIBA?w=f&ngsw-bypass= I’d be happy to discuss layout direction, production workflow, and share relevant editorial or print design samples aligned with accessible publication design.
