I run a small bar near a train station and would like to be able to offer the local live rail departures so people can stay here during inevitable delays. It needs to look good/relevant, so I was thinking either an animated split-flap display or a more modern simulated LED display.
I'd like a program that can run on a raspberry pi or similar low-cost computer, capable of displaying live departures from the 1-3 stations of my choice (other stations for connections purposes).
Ideally: I'd be able to connect the rpi up to a TV and keyboard.
It would boot up and scan for wifi, then prompt for login.
It would then load the departure board program and ask which station/stations data should be displayed.
It would then switch to displaying the live departures feed and the keyboard could be disconnected permanently.
It would display time/date and train departures in a manner in keeping with traditional train station display boards.
It would remember the setup details and would only prompt if e.g. the WiFi password changes or some other issue stops it from accurately displaying the departure data.
