New Event Poster.
Date = November 30th; Time = 7:00pm; Location = Not 100% confirmed, but should be Salon Number 10; Public is invited; No charge; Host = Sanctuary of Space and Time (new logo to follow).
Please look up the venue on Google. It is a cool place, and it should give you a sense of the vibe I am trying to establish. I want this to be perceived as a fun/relaxed/cool/social/party-type event (food and drink available) despite the fact that it is, in its essesnce, a physics lecture.
The guest is professor Jermey Lim ([url removed, login to view]) of Hong Kong University. He will discuss his field of research -- gravitational lensing. The technique uses the gravity of galaxy clusters ("nature's telescope") to magnify more distant objects, such as ancient galaxies that formed in the early universe. Observing these objects is important for research on galaxy formation, and the use of gravitational lensing has impacted our understanding of dark matter and the masses of super-massve black holes.
I tell you all of this because I don't really have a title for the talk, and I'm hoping you can help me come up with something catchy. I aslo don't have a title for my lecture series, though I'm not sure if I need one.
Really appreciate your help. Is $75 ok?
