Based on George Orwell’s 1984.
I want to repurpose 1984, which is now out of copyright, for a book related to smoking and tobacco companies.
25-30% of the story needs to be different to the original to comply with copyright laws.
I want direct parallels with the original book, same kind of flow and outcomes, but I want it leaning towards cigarettes & tobacco industry.
Move from the state controlling people to the tobacco industry, controlling smokers.
Winston Smith, will be called Simon and is the smoker who has so many reasons not to smoke, so much he will gain from not smoking, he will be free but it’s so difficult not to conform to the tobacco industries control.
Julia, will be called Pam, the rebel who is a member of the Anti Smoking movement. She really wants to break the tobacco industries control over people, especially Simon.
O’Brien, will be called Nic (for Nicotine). He is there to ensure the rebel’s fail.
