I need a book between 70 and 80 pages long about thinking. It's aimed at women and I would like it to be humorous, and document women's thoughts in different situations. i.e. a blind date, meeting someone fanciable and the thought processes along the way, being caught out in a tight spot, going to a wedding of someone the readers hates. The more humorous the better, but it should also give replies to the thought. i.e I know it's her wedding day, but I hate her. Internal dialogue: But she invited you. Yes but it was just to show off. It will be a book about internal dialogue in any given situation. This one is for girls and I want to follow it with one for boys. The maximum time for writing this book is one month. If you can turn it around sooner, all the better.
Please tell me in detail why you think you would be a good fit for this book... and the next one.
In your proposal, I would like you to answer this question. Who is Elizabeth Bennet's love interest in Pride and Prejudice?
I would also like some examples of your writing ability. Short pieces will do, although the manuscript will be edited in any case. Grammar and spelling is important.
All copyright will be mine and you will be expected to sign and return a disclaimer to the effect that you have no ownership or rights to any part of the [login to view URL] the book goes well there will be a series of books for which I will consider the writer I choose before putting out for bids.
Please remember this is meant to be a fun read! Remuneration is low to begin with but will increase with expansion of the brand.
Keep it clean, but a little frisson won't hurt. No swear words.
I look forward to your proposals.
Early days yet, but just one proposal I've received so far answers the question I posed to make sure the project was read in its entirety. And only one included writing samples. If you can't be bothered to read the whole thing, please don't bother to bid. Proposals should be tailor written for the client, not just what you send to everyone. Most of the proposals I've had have been from academic writers. This is not an academic project. It's a fun, chic, chick-lit book. I need someone who is fun, light-hearted and jokey. This project will be expanded to other books in a series I'm beginning. It's a low start-up I grant you but I promise it will get much better!
