My approach to creating a ground only model from the raw lidar data in LAS format is to use a variety of processing techniques. First, I will use a filter to remove noise from the data. This will improve the accuracy of the final model. I will then classify the points using a supervised classification method. This will allow me to separate the ground points from the non-ground points. Finally, I will use a triangulated irregular network (TIN) to create a surface model of the ground. This model can then be used for various applications such as calculating volume or creating a terrain map. To ensure the accuracy of the model, I will use quality control techniques such as checking the data for errors and inspecting the results visually. Additionally, I will use best practices such as creating a reference dataset to compare the results. By following this approach, I am confident that I will be able to create a high-quality ground only model from the raw lidar data.
