I need help:
1-making a final decision about my database options
2-how to move data from Filemaker Pro (Windows 7) to Excel 2016 (Window. 10) if that is my best option
3-how to migrate my data from Filemaker to new database in Windows 10
4-training in how to work with Excel's database functions efficiently
I am a journalist/author/publisher with multiple databases (all text-based) in Filemaker Pro 10. My largest database base has 4500 names with not only nuts-and-bolts contact info but also several categories of notes that I use for searches. I started with Filemaker on a Mac, moved to Filemaker on a Windows-based platform and now think it's time to leave Filemaker because I can't justify the cost of upgrading and going on a subscription basis. Act is a possibility but do not know if it can handle my notes and the ways I search for information. Excel appears to be a good option but I've been having difficulty with my “test trials” so far. Calling for help because today all databases opened up in protected view (which was not done intentionally, so no password known), can’t do any searches, can’t turn off filters. Giving up trying to figure it all out on my own.
