Zone-0 Fire-Defense Landscaping

My goal is to bring the first five feet around my home (Zone 0) up to strict wildfire-defensible standards. The property already has mature landscaping, but it needs a full safety overhaul. Here’s what I want completed: • Create clean firebreaks around the house and along both property lines. • Clear or thin all combustible vegetation and haul it away. • Replace existing bark mulch with non-combustible rock or gravel. • Select and plant fire-resistant natives that meet CAL FIRE guidelines. • Install a low-profile sprinkler or micro-spray system along the fence line for emergency wetting. You’ll handle material take-offs, sourcing, debris disposal and final site cleanup. All work must comply with local ordinances and CAL FIRE defensible-space rules. The finished landscape should be ready for a fire-department inspection.
