Hello, my name is Pamela, and I am a student in Costa Rica. I am involved in a group of social services that helps people with limited mobility.
The project that we want to develop is a low cost electric wheelchair, that steers similarly to a tank only by the use of traction on the opposite side of the desired direction. Instead of only driving two larger motors (one for each side) we found that 4 smaller motors are cheaper to buy here in CR and more efficient if controlled independently.
We have 2 mechanical engineers in the team (that can assemble the electircal parts) but are limited in programming knowledge. We want to control the motors with an algorithm that determines the most efficient turning of each of the 4 wheels in order to follow the desired direction and speed.
Matlab & Simulink are desired for the algorithm and control, in order to be mounted on a Raspberry Pi / Arduino combination.
