I’m building a self-contained digital photo frame that wakes up only when someone is nearby, plays locally stored photos and short videos, then goes back to sleep to conserve every milliamp. I already have the core idea; I need you to turn it into a working hardware-plus-firmware solution. Key requirements • Presence sensing: reliable detection at roughly 1–2 m using an infrared sensor. • Media playback: support both photos and short videos from on-board storage (no cloud). • Power logic: screen activates on approach and continues for up to 5 minutes, then the entire system powers down automatically. • Energy autonomy: the unit must run 100 % off a compact solar panel and internal battery with minimal idle draw. • Enclosure: slim, picture-frame form factor—no dangling wires or external modules. What I expect from you 1. Component selection with clear justification (display, MCU, storage, IR sensor, solar panel, battery management). 2. Low-power firmware that handles wake-on-presence, media looping, and timed shutdown. 3. Schematics, PCB layout, and a concise wiring diagram. 4. Guidance on enclosure dimensions and thermal considerations. 5. A short test procedure that proves standby current, wake response, and five-minute cutoff. If you can prototype and ship a fully assembled unit, let me know—otherwise a detailed build package is fine. I value clean, well-commented code and parts that are readily available worldwide.
