Job Description:
The batteries are 2S using 18650 or 21700 the cells we are currently using are Sony VTC6 3000mAh/20A and Molicel P42A 4200mAh/30A. Larger capacity cells will be investigated and used as they come available. They are housed in a nylon case and are wired in series having a centre connection for charging, there is no protection circuits in the batteries. They plug into our drones and controllers and will be plugged into the charger as required. The chargers are to accept either two or six battery packs and are to work with any number plugged in. We expect to be able to plug in up to six 2S battery packs which could be all at different charge levels and each will be balanced and fully charged on completion. An led showing fully charged will light on each pack when this is accomplished
When the battery is plugged in an indicator light is to show charging has commenced. The percentage charge of each battery is also to be shown this will give the user the ability to accept a less than full charge if circumstances dictate. Once the cells are fully charged a green indicator should display.
These charging circuits are to be run by a 100w USB PD type C quick charger probably running a little less than the maximum rated output. Your circuit should be able to select the 20v output from the PD provided a suitable cable has been used
Your circuit most safely charge each battery in line with the manufacturers specification and also balance the two cells.
We are currently using purchased boards that are not giving all the above features. We have also been having quality issues particularly when components have been substituted with recent chip shortages.
We are looking for a new design which you can base on a suitable battery charger IC from a respected source such as Texas Instruments or similar, please advise your intention in this respect.
Please advise the price you need for the design and supplying all the production details including fabricating sample boards for testing
