I have an existing optical board designed in KiCad. I need to replace the muiled (SFH7016) with 3 discrete leds and move PDs aside to make place. • update the schematic symbols and footprints to match the new LEDs, • adjust the board layout where clearances or routing change, and • regenerate the BOM, fab and assembly files so the board is production-ready again. All design files (current .kicad_pro project, datasheets for the new LEDs and the old reference board) are ready to share the moment we start. Please reply with examples of past KiCad projects where you handled component swaps or footprint revisions—anything that shows you can do quick, accurate edits without disturbing a proven design. If you’ve worked on optical or LED-dense boards before, mention that as well. I expect neat, DRC-clean files and updated Gerbers/schematics at hand-off. the board and assembly will be done via JCLPCB and need to pass all there process

I’ve been doing PCB design and firmware for over a decade, and this KiCad LED board update is exactly the kind of targeted work I can turn around fast. I’ve handled dozens of layout revisions where the goal is cleaner routing, better thermal management, or fixing a specific performance issue without a full redesign. I’m comfortable working from your existing KiCad files and making surgical changes to the schematic and layout. I’ve shipped custom boards for clients globally, including a compact multi-layer PCB for a sports wearable that required precise power distribution and signal integrity. Send over the project files and I’ll give you a clear scope of what I can improve.

Hi, your project is very achievable because the core task is carefully modifying an already proven KiCad design without disturbing the existing electrical and optical behavior more than necessary. From your description, I understand the priority is replacing the SFH7016 with discrete LEDs, repositioning the photodiodes cleanly, and ensuring the updated layout remains fully manufacturable through JLCPCB without introducing DRC, assembly, or footprint issues. I mainly focus on PCB revision work, including schematic updates, footprint replacement, routing adjustments, BOM regeneration, Gerber production, and manufacturing validation for KiCad-based projects. I also understand the importance of maintaining signal integrity, optical spacing considerations, assembly tolerances, and JLCPCB compatibility when modifying LED-dense or sensor-heavy boards. Based on your requirements, this can be handled cleanly by updating the symbols/footprints, reworking the placement and routing where needed, running full ERC/DRC validation, and regenerating all fabrication and assembly outputs for production-ready delivery. I’d be happy to review the existing KiCad project and perform the revisions carefully while preserving the stability of the original design.
