one thing to settle before anyone starts, because your payment condition rests on it: what "matches page for page, line for line" means in an editable document. a retyped file will not break lines where the scan does unless page size, margins, font and font size are all matched deliberately. the same words set in a different face wrap in different places. so if the acceptance test is taken literally, a file can be perfectly accurate and still fail it, and neither of us wants that argument at the end. what i would propose: match page size and margins, agree one face and size, and judge accuracy on content and styling instead. every chapter heading, every paragraph break, every italic and bold exactly as in the original. that is testable, it is what you will actually be checking when you proofread, and it protects you rather than me. on method, honestly: if the scans are clean, this is OCR followed by a full manual pass against every page, which is more accurate than typing from scratch because it introduces no new errors. if the scans are poor or handwritten, it becomes genuine retyping and takes longer. tell me which you have and i will not pretend otherwise. send two representative pages first, one of them with italics, and i will return them formatted so you can check the standard before the rest is touched.
