Export / Import to migrate Microsoft SQL Data from one to another server

Hi, I am not really bidding as such, just wanted to ask - are you sure you can't use backup/restore to copy the DB across? Alternatively you can script out all DB objects and/or data using the import/export wizards in MSSQL. Depending on the size of your tables etc. this might be an option. 3rd option would be to setup replication if possible. That way you could just snapshot the data. With replication it has the added benefit you could make transactional publications so that any data inserted/changed/deleted on your production DB is copied as well to your backup DB. Once all the snapshots have been applied, and any extra transactions synced, you could switch your application code to point to the backup DB. This way is much more involved then the first 2 options, so if you want to explore that further then sure I could help you out. Kind regards, Chris
