You would build phase 1 of a Bible Text Analysis tool.
You would do some simple text analysis on any specific Biblical Text and visualise the text analysis.
1. You would advise on the best text analysis platform to be used. This is Phase 1 of the project, so it is quite important to select the right platform for easy expansion. Linguistics & hermeneutics to follow in Phase 2.
2. Similar stats as [url removed, login to view] for a typical Biblical text like:
Example 1 Cor 13 – please paste this text in tool mentioned above.
13 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body [a]to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 [b]bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of [c]prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I [d]became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror [e]dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the [f]greatest of these is love.
3. Visualise the stats:
a. Super cool GUI and much neater and better organised than this online utility.
b. This is the most important part of the project.
c. This needs very user friendly and very graphic.
d. and very, very readable.
e. Text in 2D or 3D mode with pointer to word and phrases in stats list.
For example the phrase ‘but do not have love’ appears three times in this text. The GUI needs to be neatly laid out and when you point to or click on the stats, in this case ‘but do not have love’, it would show you where the phrase is by maybe highlighting it but also by pointing it out with some other discrete way. Rotate the text and show in 3D and point out where that particular phrase or word is. Rotate the text in 3D and lift out the phrase.
4. Easy to use editor (all on the same screen as 2 & 3 above)
a. All the basic editor functionality – only basic needed
b. function to Highlight background in light blue, purple & other.
i. green would indicate well known text highlighted by user.
ii. purple would indicate a text seen before
iii. other would indicate text unknown
c. After a whole book in the Bible (say the Book of Romans) has been attributed with these colours, one would be able to run of statistics. Typically how much green as a percentage of the whole Book of Romans.
Phase 1 is focused on making the text graphically easy to interpret. Phase 2 (which is out of scope for now) would focus on hermeneutics, linguistics and block diagramming, but the aim for now is the be able to look at a specific text and see some key words and phrases at a glance in a very easy to read graphical way.
