I am mid-way through the development of a new **Ignition 8.0 SCADA system** for a live industrial site and am looking for an experienced engineer to take ownership of key workstreams. This system supports a **canola crush plant and edible oil refinery**, so reliability and real-world industrial experience are critical. Scope of Work You will be responsible for progressing three core areas: **1. HMI Design** * Build clean, intuitive, operator-friendly screens in Ignition * Ensure layouts are practical for real plant use (not just visual design) * Structure screens so they scale with future plant expansion **2. PLC Integration** * Connect and configure PLCs to the Ignition gateway * Build a structured and scalable tag system (UDTs preferred) * Implement reliable diagnostics, status feedback, and fail-safe handling * Ensure stable, real-time data flow (no dropouts or noisy signals) **3. Data & Analytics Setup** * Configure historian and database connections * Set up production tracking and KPI dashboards * Enable meaningful drill-down into plant performance (not just basic charts) Deliverables (Sign-off Required) 1. Ignition project export (*.proj) that imports cleanly into our gateway 2. Fully documented: * Tag structure * PLC connections * System architecture decisions 3. Minimum of two production-ready HMI screens including: * Navigation * Alarm visibility * Live trending 4. A working analytics dashboard pulling live historian data 5. A concise handover guide for ongoing internal development Important This is a **live industrial environment**, not a demo system. You must: * Have proven **Ignition SCADA experience (v8 preferred)** * Understand **PLC integration and industrial communications (OPC UA, Modbus, etc.)** * Be able to design systems that are: * Stable * Scalable * Maintainable by others Preference will be given to candidates with **manufacturing, processing, or plant experience**.
